Anti-falsing

The most common complaint about radar detectors is their tendency
to alert the driver to non-police radar signals which saturate
the airwaves. Garage door openers, alarm systems and other
devices can be annoying, particularly in urban areas.
The ability to reject these
spurious signals, commonly called selectivity, is crucial
for a detector. It’s largely accomplished by programming
the detector’s software to recognise the difference
between false alarms and a real radar threat. The City/Highway
switch found on most detectors limits urban falses by merely
reducing sensitivity.
But simply lowering sensitivity
isn’t the optimal solution. Instead, BEL helps accomplish
this difficult talk with yet another innovation called AutoScanÔ-
a sophisticated software using Digital Signal Processing
(DSP). AutoScanÔ analyses each signal, then automatically
discounts it as a false alarm or accepts it as a legitimate
