Fleetminder

What is Fleetminder?
Fleetminder is a new business management tool to improve sales, improve customer service, more effectively manage your staff, reduce costs, protect staff and assets and more effectively implement occupational health and safety in the workplace.
Fleetminder utilizes state of the art technology with GPS satellite positioning accurate to within a few metres, GSM technology for cheap reliable messaging, GPRS technology for communication with the web based tracking system.
Carminder has been successfully sold in the Australian market for the past 3 years and fleetminder has been designed for the web based tracking system.

How accurate is GPS?
A. Fleetminder employs a 16 parallel channel receiver which enables fast time to first fix. GPS accuracy is within 10 meters 95% of the time.

What happens if the vehicle is taken under cover?
A. If the vehicle is moved under cover then Fleetminder will remember the last known location and time.
In this case it would be about 1 second before the vehicle went under cover. Fleetminder in most cases will still be able to report back to your phone this information.

How secure is Fleetminder?
A. Fleetminder is PIN code protected. It is also a good idea not to divulge the number to your Fleetminder.
Once You have registered your phone with Fleetminder and changed your PIN (by using SMS commands PIN & NEWPIN) your Fleetminder is ready for use.

How does Fleetminder know what phone number to text messages (SMS) to?
A. When using the PIN command to register your phone, Fleetminder will note the phone number sent in the text message and store it as only authorized number. You can also manually set the number from your registered mobile by using the PH1 & PH2 command. Note: phone number stored using the PH2 command cannot administer Fleetminder. Command PH2 is second contact for Alarm conditions only.

How does the over-speed feature work?
A. To set and enable the over-speed send a SMS. Once the vehicles speed has gone over the limit phone numbers stored in PH1 and PH2 will be notified. Over-speed will then be disabled. Over speed is useful for parents monitoring inexperienced drivers, drivers driving dangerously and to determine if a vehicle is being abused.

How does the low voltage notification feature work?
A. To set and enable the low voltage notification send a SMS. Once the battery voltage goes below the setting number stored in PH1 and PH2 will be notified. The low voltage notification will subsequently be disabled. Low voltage warning is useful in monitoring the battery condition of your vehicle and if you have a small backup battery installed (recommended), then you will be notified if your vehicles battery is disconnected.

What is a geofence?
A. Geofence is a geographical area with a radius that is defined by the user. Fleetminder allows you to create invisible fences each of variable size anywhere in the world. As soon as your vehicle enters the defined area, you are notified via SMS or Website. Examples include being notified if your vehicle enters a suburb or city, worksite etc. Or perhaps if your vehicle goes to a location where it is not authorized to be, such as most 4WD hire company which prohibits vehicles going on the beach (for insurance reasons). Fleetminder also includes a user definable geofence which can be set to notify the owner when their vehicle leaves a given area.
All geofences are easily administered via PC or mobile phone. Each geofence has its own label that you set.

Does Fleetminder have anti-tow away alert?
A. Yes. Every time vehicle is armed or key is removed from ignition(depending on wiring setup) Fleetminder will enable the anti-tow away.

How do I prompt Fleetminder to send me an update of where my vehicle is?
A. You can send the command to Fleetminder. You can also get a message with Google map on it.

How many things e.g. central locking, can I control from my mobile phone?
A. Fleetminder has three general purpose outputs that can be used to lock/unlock doors, sound horn, disable starter motor etc.

Can I use Fleetminder to immobilize my car?
A. Yes by disabling the start-motor only. We strictly do not authorize Fleetminder to be connected in such away that would disable the engine or any other component/system necessary for the normal operation of the vehicle. Disabling the starter motor is the next best alternative.

Is it possible to use my office PC to send and receive text messages with Fleetminder?
A. Yes. There are several ways that you can do this. The easiest is by purchasing the data suite cable for your particular mobile phone. You may also able to use the infrared port of your phone and PC. Most mobile phone manufacturers offer their PC software free of charge. With the software you will be able to communicate with Fleetminder just as you would send and receive emails.

Can I unlock my doors with an SMS?
A. Yes. However you will need to have central locking fitted in your vehicle.

Are the outputs pulsed or latched?
A. You can configure each output individually. Each output can be configured as either: Pulse (800ms), latch or cycle. Pulse is usually used for central locking, whilst latch is typically used to disable the starter. Please remember to use relays.
